Valley of the Giants

Step back in time to hear stories only ancient trees can tell as you wander through Valley of the Giants in Polk County. Among the largest Douglas-firs and Western Hemlocks in the Oregon Coast Range can be found in this old-growth forest, with many of the trees reaching twenty feet in circumference, 200 feet tall, and 400 to 450 years old. The trees are protected in a 51 acre Outstanding Natural Area so teeming with plants, fungi, and wildlife that it feels otherworldly. Note: Valley of the Giants is always closed during fire season, and other conditions sometimes apply, so make sure to check the Bureau of Land Management's website before you go.
