Tamolitch Blue Pool

Dubbed "Blue Pool" for its vibrant turquoise and topaz blue color, this gorgeous body of water at the base of Tamolitch Falls in Linn County is an inspiration. A lava flow over 1,600 years ago buried a portion of McKenzie River, and when that water resurfaces through the porous lava buried below dry Tamolitch Falls, it produces an intensely cold, crystal-clear blue pool of water. You can see it for yourself by taking a two-mile hike along the McKenzie River Trail in the lush Willamette National Forest.
