Cascade Head
From extraordinary hikes with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean to safe havens for rare plants and wildlife, Cascade Head in Lincoln County is a slice of paradise on Oregon's Central Coast. In fact, Congress chose this coastal headland as the first non-wilderness land in the United States to be safeguarded as a Scenic-Research Area for its breathtaking ecological and scientific benefits. It was also recognized as a United Nations Biosphere Reserve. One visit and you'll see why: Bald eagles and the Oregon silverspot butterfly—known to live in only a few other places in the world—soar over the exquisite wildflowers and native prairie grasses that make Cascade Head a critical area for both environmental research and delightful recreation.
