Historic Covered Bridges
If you're looking to drive through a piece of Oregon history, Lane County has you covered—literally! With over 20 covered bridges, Lane County has more of these structures than any other county west of the Mississippi River. Many were built around a hundred years ago to shield wooden bridges from the wear and tear of the Oregon Coast's heavy rain and salty sea air, doubling the life expectancy of these high-quality timber bridges. Today, many covered bridges are still open to pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicle traffic, letting folks admire the beautiful craftsmanship of these structures that harken back to Oregon's past.
