Crater Lake National Park
There is nothing else like Crater Lake on Earth. It was formed nearly 8,000 years ago when Mount Mazama erupted so forcefully that its tall peak collapsed in on itself and formed a deep caldera in Klamath County. Over the last 700 years, that caldera filled with rain and snow, creating Crater Lake—the deepest lake in the United States at nearly 2,000 feet, and the clearest and cleanest large body of water in the world. Trek down Cleetwood Cove Trail to take a brisk swim or catch a boat or trolley tour instead. There are endless adventures awaiting you at Oregon's only national park.
