South Slough Research Reserve Interpretive Center and Hidden Creek Trail
On a lush, 7,000-acre landscape in Coos County you'll find this magical research reserve on Oregon's South Coast filled with shady trails, open water channels, wonderful wetlands, and an interpretive center. There about a dozen hikes to explore, including the Hidden Creek Trail, which features a boardwalk and marsh observation deck. You might also consider the Wasson Creek and Fredrickson Marsh loop trails for prime forest and marsh viewing. You could also launch a kayak or canoe from Hinch Bridge to see wildlife like the great blue heron. One visit to the South Slough will show you why this iridescent estuary is home to critical research, education, and coastal stewardship efforts.
